Online Marketing
Paul has broad and deep experience successfully bringing online businesses and technologies into international markets. In addition to his deep experience and knowledge of consumer marketing, online advertising technology, and international business development, Paul brings disciplined and prudent best management practices to online companies, consistently helping them to achieve cost-effective growth.
From 1999 – 2003, Paul served as Founder, President & CEO of @Asia Inc., a pioneering Internet venture company that developed Web sites and Internet content and services primarily targeted to Japan. With little marketing budget, @Asia’s Web sites attracted hundreds of thousands of loyal users and received positive acclaim from a variety of media and industry sources. Paul introduced many global best practices into the Japanese online marketing industry.
From January, 2004 through June, 2006, Paul served as General Manager, Asia-Pacific for Claria Corporation, a leader in online behavioral marketing and Web personalization technology. Paul opened Claria’s Asia-Pacific office in Tokyo in June, 2004, and quickly led the company to significant sales and profitability in the region. Paul pioneered online behavioral marketing in Asia-Pacific, established agency relationships, and sold Claria’s services to more than 100 advertisers. This successful start up led to a $30 million investment in Claria by Softbank.
Over his many years in pioneering roles in the Asia online advertising industry, Paul had observed that the industry was dominated by an oligopoly of big agencies and big publishers, selling media at extremely high prices. He saw opportunities to pioneer several important online media buying methods and technologies that would greatly lower online media costs for advertisers.
Paul started Globalis Media in 2006, and partnered with Right Media in January, 2007 to introduce the world's first RTB media platform and the world's first online media exchange into Asia. About one year later, Right Media was acquired by Yahoo Inc. Globalis Media uses many of the leading “ad tech” platforms, including DoubleClick Bid Manager, AppNexus, Facebook, YouTube, Google AdWords, Google Display Network, and Yahoo Gemini, and many Native advertising platforms. Globalis Media is a Google Certified Partner, with world-class media buyers and campaign managers.
Over the past ten years, Globalis Media has served tens of thousands of ads and tens of billions of impressions for more than 100 companies in dozens of countries, consistently achieving very cost-effective results for advertisers on all key performance metrics.
In July, 2010, Globalis relocated its office to Cebu, Philippines. Cebu provides a more central location than Tokyo to serve the company's clients around Asia and globally. Cebu is a booming technology center, with a large pool of educated, skilled, English-speaking technology workers.
In January, 2013, Globalis formed a new subsidiary company, ExDigita Inc., incorporated and located in the Philippines. ExDigita provides virtual staffing and outsourced services, including Ad Ops, campaign management, web development, web design, content development, and content moderation for online media companies, ad tech companies, digital agencies, publishers, and advertisers.
